Tata Sierra Spy Shots Surface : this year. Sierra ICE will be available with petrol and diesel engine options The design is a throwback to original Sierra from the 1990s Launch slated by end of 2025 Tata Sierra: what the spy shots tell us? The spied prototype appears to be the ICE version of the Sierra as we can note a center air intake in the lower bumper region – the Sierra EV sports a fully sealed-off front fascia. This
prototype sports extensive camo, but you can make out the split headlamp treatment up front and linked LED light bar around back. The prototype can be seen riding on steel wheels as well, though the production-spec SUV will likely wear 19-inch alloys on higher trims.
The Sierra shown at the Auto Expo was said to be in near-production form already, so there isn’t going to be much that will change before the final version arrives in showrooms. The swooping arched rear-side windows, the tall-cap bonnet and squared-off wheel arch cladding – all very reminiscent of the original Sierra – can be expected in the final production version of the SUV.
Chances are we queue up for some Sierra inside, which we haven seen. We did not catch a peek at the Sierra interior but the model displayed at the Auto Expo had a floating triple screen setup with a four-spoke steering wheel. Many interior bits will be shared with Tata’s existing crop of SUVs for cost benefits as well on the production version.
Likely to get 1.5 petrol and 2.0 diesel engines The combustion-powered Sierra was only teased, so Tata hasn’t revealed the exact specification of its powertrains, but it is likely to get a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine – putting out 170hp and 280Nm of torque – and a 2.0-litre diesel engine as options. The latter is the same unit that does duty on the Harrier and Safari, however, it will be interesting to see if it is offered in the same 170hp, 350Nm state of tune.
Tata Sierra September 2023 launch, competitors Expected to be introduced just a few months after the Sierra EV in late 2025, the Sierra ICE will directly rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti Grand Vitara. The Tata Sierra will likely measure around 4.3 meters in length, meaning it will slot below the Harrier, but official dimensions are still not disclosed.
