Electric Scooter Face Off: Which One Costs Less to Run? Suzuki, Honda, or TVS?

Electric Scooter Face Off :  Access and Honda Activa e: were revealed at Auto Expo 2025 last month. Also, the TVS iQube has been on sale in the Indian market for quite some time. So with all these three major petrol two-wheeler manufacturers having now entered the electric space, we decided to check all the available scooters and see which one is the cheapest per kilometre and which one is the most expensive.

Firstly let’s also get to know the contenders

It employs a mid-mounted 4.1kW electric motor with a 71kmph top speed. It features a 3.07kWh battery pack that offers a claimed range of 95km on a single charge. The Honda Activa e: is powered by a 6kW electric motor that has a top speed of 80kmph and a 0 to 100kmph acceleration time of 7.43 seconds (claim). It packs dual 1.5kWh AAA battery-swappable packs that are said to offer a range of up to 102km.It uses a 4.4kW mid-mounted electric motor just like the TVS iQube 3.4kWh. It has a top speed of 78kmph and can go from 0 to 40kmph in 4.2 seconds.

Comparing the p/km Running Costs

Now that we know the battery and range figures, we can work out the running costs of all three electric scooters. In this comparison, we are taking an average electric charge of Rs 10 per unit.

Suzuki e-Access

Running cost for the Suzuki e-Access is approximately Rs 0.32 per km, whereas its battery can be charged fully at approximately Rs 30.70.

TVS iQube 3.4kWh

Running cost of the TVS iQube 3.4kWh is Rs 0.34 per km It costs Rs 34 to charge the battery completely. Honda Activa e:

Honda Activa e: comes with swappable battery packs that cannot be charged at home. This is the reason, Honda has subscription plans for its swappable charging infrastructure. The base plan for the Activa e: will cost Rs 1,999 per month but has a daily riding quota of 40km. This translates to a running cost of Rs 1.16 per kilometre, which would mean the Activa e: will cost you Rs 66.6 per day.

Regular Monthly Running Costs (40km / day usage)

Since the only available running cost figure for the Activa e: is for a 40km / day running cost, we will take that figure as a base and calculate the monthly running cost for all three scooters.

Which means if you ride your scooter approximately 40kms daily then e-Access would cost you Rs 12.8 per day and you will end up spending Rs 384 every month. On the flip side, the TVS iQube 3.4kWh will cost Rs 13.6 in daily and Rs 408km in monthly expenses. On the other hand, the Honda Activa e: ended up being the most expensive to ride 40km in a day at Rs 66.6 and even its monthly subscription will start from Rs 1,999. BikeDekho says

This is surprising results from this comparison. The Suzuki e-Access has a monthly running cost of about Rs 384, whereas the monthly running cost of the TVS iQube 3.4kWh (when ridden for 40km every day) is close to about Rs 408.

In contrast, the Activa e: powered by a Rs 1,999 monthly subscription is approximately Rs 1,600 pricier per daily run. While the Activa e: is equipped with a removable battery, which is a subject of much demand these days, and takes a few minutes to change instead of waiting a few hours for the scooter to charge, this premium does seem exorbitant at Rs 1,600. However, with the e-Access and the iQube, the user charges them as per your ride on the scooter, whereas for the Activa e: a fixed subscription fee of Rs 1,999 will have to be paid, regardless of whether you ride the scooter that much or not.
