BYD Sealion 7 Makes a Splash : Sealion 7 electric SUV was launched by BYD in India at Rs 48.9 lakh for the base Premium variant and Rs 54.9 lakh for the top-spec Performance trim. BYD launched the SUV at Auto Expo 2025, and started bookings for the Sealion 7 the same day. The first 70 units of the Sealion 7 will start to ship on March 7.

language found on the Seal electric sedan. X-shaped elements are scattered all over the Sealion 7, including the front bumper, headlights and tail-lamps, mimicking the design of the Seal. Apart from all the aforementioned upgrades, the Premium variant of the Sealion 7 sports 19-inch alloy wheels while the flagship Performance variant comes fitted with 20-inch unit.It comes in four colours: Atlantis Grey, Aurora White, Cosmos Black and Shark Grey.

The Sealion 7’s dash and steering wheel layout also share similarities with the Seal. The cabin features a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system that controls most functions. Other features available in the electric SUV include ventilated front seats with a memory function, connected car technology, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, a floating digital instrument cluster, a panoramic glass roof with a sunshade, 50W wireless phone charger, heads-up-display, powered tailgate and vehicle-to-
load (V2L) function. Premium and Performance variants have the same feature list.Boot space in the SUV is rated at 520 litres, expanding to 1,789 litres with the rear seats folded. Being an EV, there’s also a 58-litre frunk in the Sealion 7. In terms of safety, the Sealion 7 gets 11 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and numerous ADAS features such as blind spot detection, forward collision warning, intelligent cruise control, automatic emergency braking and more.
Powertrain and performance of BYD Sealion 7
While both variants of the Sealion 7 use the same 82.56kWh LFP low-voltage battery pack, there is a considerable spread in their outputs and performance. In the Premium variant, the Sealion 7 sends 313hp and 380Nm to its rear wheels, enabling the SUV to complete the 0-100kph run in 6.7s with a WLTP-claimed range of 482km.
The 530hp/690Nm output of the Performance variant is set to attract spirited buyers and helps it complete the 0-100kph sprint from rest in 4.5 seconds. This variant will also have all-wheel drive as an option, but the WLTP-claimed range drops a little to 456km.The Sealion 7’s nearest competitor based on its body style and price point is therefore the Volvo C40 Recharge. The Sealion 7 can also be considered as a rival at the price point level — Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5.
