Honda CBR650R vs Rivals: Which Mid-Range Sportbike Win

Honda CBR650R vs Rivals : Honda has reintroduced the 2025 CBR650R in India, with the updated version now receiving slightly more power, a revised design and new features. We compared it with its closest in-principal rivals on paper to see how it matches up.

Honda CBR650R vs rivals: Engine & output

The motorcycles being compared here are quite due to their respective types of engine and character of power delivery. But while both the Honda CBR650R and the Kawasaki ZX-4RR feature an inline-four engine, the ZX has the least displacement at 399cc.Of course, the Ninja is the lowest in both power and torque figures here thanks to its displacement disadvantage. A tiny

displacement and inline-four configuration make this the most peaky of the bunch, producing its peak power at a staggering 14,500rpm!Both the Honda CBR650R and Triumph Daytona 660 make four-figure peak power figures, but the Triumph’s inline-four motor delivers it 750rpm earlier. Twin cylinders make it two the largest displacement engine with the highest torque. When it comes to power-to-weight ratio, the Triumph Daytona 660 is ahead here.Honda CBR650R vs rivals: Weight and dimensions

The lightest bike here with the lowest seat height is the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR. On the contrary, being the heaviest the Honda CBR650R is a full 20kg heavier and also has the lowest ground clearance. The most ground clearance here belongs to the Suzuki GSX-8R, though at 145mm it’s still not much in absolute terms.

Honda CBR650R vs rivals: Braking and suspension

All bikes here except the Kawasaki use wider 180-section rear tyres, while the 400cc Ninja uses a 160-section rear. It also has slightly smaller diameter front rotors, but given that it’s the lightest of the bunch, it shouldn’t be a challenge. The Kawasaki also has the only properly-adjustable suspension, with fully-adjustable monoshock and a preload-adjustable fork.

Honda CBR650R vs competitors: Features

All the motorcycles get a TFT colour dash, although the Triumph Daytona 660 gets a smaller version of its own, along with a basic monochrome digital rev counter very reminiscent of that on the Trident 660.

Ride-by-wire is another aspect that would accompany electronics and instead, the Honda CBR650R is given the simplest of equipment. That said, the Kawasaki ZX-4RR and Suzuki GSX-8R both offer a bi-directional quickshifter as standard, while the Triumph Daytona 660 has the gear-cutting kit as a Rs 40,000 optional extra.

Honda CBR650R vs rivals: Price Comparison

Price

Honda CBR650R  Daytona 660 Suzuki GSX-8R Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR

Price (ex-showroom, Delhi) Rs 9.99 lakh Rs 9.72 lakh Rs 9.25 lakh Rs 9.42 lakh

At $9,299, the relaunched Honda CBR650R tops the list, with the Triumph just below it. Interestingly, the Suzuki has the largest displacement engine here, and it is the cheapest bike in this company, although it’s the only twin-cylinder motor here. The Rs 9.42 lakh Ninja ZX-4RR is also overkill if you demand something less expensive; you can opt for the standard 4R, which costs Rs 8.79 lakh. Yet it lacks a few perks and is available only in black.
