Honda has retained almost all that mechanical goodness, while working on the aesthetics by way of new colours and badging for the length and breadth of this rather large tourer. The 50th Anniversary edition will come in two body styles worldwide – Goldwing and Goldwing Tour with DCT and manual gearbox options. The standard Goldwing is bagger whereas the ‘Tour’ variant sports a rear top-box.

In India, this model is available as the Goldwing Tour. Now, the Goldwing 50th Anniversary edition comes in two new colours – metallic red and soft gold. Both colours get revised graphics as well as a bold Goldwing logo coupled with ‘50th anniversary edition’ badging that runs across the saddles and fairing and in front of the seat.

They are also accompanied by a coffee table book tracing the history and lineage of the Goldwing. Another nostalgia-inducing tribute is a 1:12 scale model which has been cut in half and displays the 2025 GL1800 on one side and the 1975 GL1000 on the other.Honda has also made wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay standard equipment for 2025. has been around since 2018, and that was a totally new design and a big change from the earlier rounder look.Rich family history — Goldwing GL1800. The original was an unfaired naked bike powered by a flat-four, liquid cooled engine rather than the flat-six we better know today. The Flat six engine first appeared with the 1988 GL1500 and has been had continuous developments throughout the years. At the time, the Goldwing was the first series production motorcycle with a six-cylinder engine. In the event of a crash, the Goldwing is also still the only bike to offer an airbag system for the rider.

The Current flat six engine has a displacement of 1,883cc and generates 126.4hp and 170Nm. The 1.4 turbo petrol engine is paired with a 7-speed DCT with an additional reverse gear in India. Overseas, it is available with a manual transmission, which is not an option available in India.In India, the Goldwing GL1800 retails at Rs 39.70 lakh. We spoke to Honda dealers about the soon-to-come 50th Anniversary edition and they are yet to receive an official notice about it. Whether this unique version comes to India is yet to be seen.
