ADAS comes as an optional add-on for the top HTX+ trim, and is priced at Rs 80,000. The Syros falls between the Sonet & the Seltos price-wise. The Sonet petrol is priced from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 14.95 lakh, whereas the Seltos petrol has prices ranging from Rs 11.13 lakh to Rs 20.51 lakh. For reference, Sonet diesel prices vary in between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15.70 lakh, while the Seltos diesel sells at a price range of Rs 12.71 lakh and Rs 20.51 lakh.

Kia Syros design and colours

Forming part of a tallboy body less than 4 metres long, the Syros draws on a design language we see in other global variations of Kia SUVs, such as the EV9 and EV3. The fascia is especially distinctive, with its upright stance and low-set horizontal LED headlights that stretch into the fenders. The usage of cladding around the lower-end is generous, and in the top spec variant, the tri-petal design for the 17-inch alloy wheels is eye-catching.

It also sports body-coloured B pillars between a full set of all-black A, C and D pillars, roof rails, flush-fitting door handles and a flat glass area that swiftly kinks up before tapering round the rear. High-mounted L-shaped tail-lamps at the back of the Syros are flanking the rear windscreen. At the back, the chunky rear bumper comes with a two-tone black and silver treatment, along with vertically set stop lamps and turn indicators on both sides.

There are eight colour options on offer: Aurora Black Pearl, Frost Blue, Glacier White Pearl, Gravity Grey, Imperial Blue, Intense Red, Pewter Olive and Sparkling Silver.

Interior and safety features Kia Syros

The Syros has been equipped with a smart, well-organized dashboard by Kia. Dominating the centre console is a pair of 12.3-inch displays, one for the infotainment system and one for the instrument cluster, connected by a 5-inch screen for the climate control. The steering wheel sports a two-spoke layout and features a unique off-centre Kia logo, while the AC vents are neatly stretched across the length of the dashboard. The tallboy form factor also aids in making the most of the Syros’ interiors; Kia India MD and CEO Gwanggu Lee has stated that maximizing interior space was a key design consideration for the compact SUV.

The list of features includes four-zone climate control, ambient lighting, reclinable and sliding second-row seats with centre armrest and 60:40 split folding function, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless charging pad, a panoramic sunroof, powered driver’s seat, electronic parking brake and an 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. For safety equipment, the Syros has six airbags, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS suite.

Kia Syros powertrain

That said, the Syros is available with two engine options, combined with manual or automatic transmissions. Petrol Syros buyers receive a 120hp, 172Nm, 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol powertrain. The diesel engine in the Syros is a 116hp, 250Nm 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit. Both engines come with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard which the petrol variant can get with an optional 7-speed DCT while the diesel gets a 6-speed torque converter automatic box.
