Man Tries to Stop Car Burglars in Nashville, Gets Shot

Man Tries to Stop Car Burglars in Nashville : Prompted by frustrations over the car break-ins, these Nashville residents are taking matters into their own hands — which almost cost a man his life.According to Metro Police, he was shot late Wednesday night along Del Sol Drive by suspected car burglars.Prior to this, investigators say the man yelled at the burglars from his window

and that’s when one of them allegedly open fire, hitting him in the hip.“That’s a textbook example of people who commit property crimes can turn violent,” said Metro Police spokesman Don Aaron. The shooting follows an MNPD reminder to the public not to confront car burglars, as they may be armed.

In surveillance released this week, from an unrelated burglary, a group of people can be seen holding up what appeared to be weapons while the individual enters the car through the sunroof.“These are typically young people who may have find the guns while breaking into other vehicles,” Aaron said.

If you see a break-in, Metro Police say do not confront the suspect, contact them instead. They also suggest jotting down the license plate number and getting a description of the suspects involved.Unfortunately for the man, there will be “temporary damages” to his arms, as he was shot in both arms— though his injuries are not critical, MNDP added.
