MV Agusta and KTM Part Ways : Today, MV Agusta has made its break with KTM official. MV Agusta’s parent company issued a statement acknowledging that Art of Mobility S.A., owned and controlled by the Sardarov family, will retake full control of the MV Agusta Group. This follows reports from as far back as December 2024, when speculation started regarding KTM’s potential withdrawal from MV Agusta.
In early 2020, KTM, via its parent firm Pierer Mobility AG, took a controlling 50.1% stake in MV Agusta. The collaboration was intended to bolster MV Agusta’s operations in terms of KTM’s resources and distribution channels. Yet, MV Agusta’s split from Pierer Mobility AG now seems to be a matter of financial necessity in Pierer Mobility AG’s case, as they struggle financially in the past few months — something which caused the divorce with MV Agusta, which has now officially returned to being a wholly independent motorcycle manufacturer.
With the recent separation, MV Agusta states it remains unaffected by KTM’s ongoing financial restructuring, giving the Italian brand to operate without any outside financial pressures. Preserving its stable of suppliers and dealers from the potential fallout of KTM’s restructuring had been one of the prime directives for MV Agusta during this transition, the company added.
So, MV Agusta has revealed that it has not just remained afloat despite ownership changes but also registered financial growth. It says it has bolstered its financial position under a re-energised management team in the past 18 months. In 2024 alone, MV Agusta sold no less than 4,000 motorcycles, which resulted in an impressive 116 per cent sales growth compared to 2023. MV Agusta has assured customers and stakeholders that global sales and service continuity will not be disrupted. The company has 219 active sales points around the world, 41 service centres, and expected to reach 270 points by 2023 end.
Timur Sardarov, CEO of Art of Mobility S.A comments: “This is a moment of pride for all of us at MV Agusta. The return to full ownership of the company means we’re now in stronger and sharper shape than ever to deliver excellence. The company has made meaningful enhancements to its processes, systems and team over the past two years. And these structural changes are underpinning the exceptional results on 2024 and will keep fueling our success in coming years.”
“I fully trust our leadership team, whose vision and that of our revitalised dealer network will take MV Agusta to the next level,” he continued. Mine and my family’s commitment is to finally be an important part of the Varese team, the area and our entire partners”.
