Skoda Enyaq RS Race Concept : Skoda Motorsports has previewed what an all-electric Skoda race car might look like with the Enyaq RS Race concept. As a Race concept based on the updated Skoda Enyaq Coupe RS, it’s over 300 kg lighter than the standard model and does it with minimal use of carbon fibre. The source also claims the racing car concept ‘reinforces the development of innovative technologies and
sustainable materials’ and serves as a pilot project for future EVs.As for the dimensions, the Enyaq RS Race has a 72 mm wider front and a 116 mm wider rear track than the standard Enyaq Coupe RS. This also comes with a 316 kg overall weight reduction because of the use of what Skoda calls biocomposite materials extensively. The front fenders, bumper, internal door panels, roof
side panel, rear wing, rear bumper and dynamic diffuser – all because they are made from this biocomposite material with flax fibre instead of carbon. Skoda claims the new material is on par with carbon fibre for weight saving and rigidity. Naturally the cabin has also been stripped down, the standard car’s five-seat interior swapped for a roll cage and race bucket seats, although you still get a 13-inch infotainment screen. All glasshouse body panels (except for the windshield) are made from polycarbonate.
Visually, the Enyaq RS Race has a more aggressive aero package compared to the road-going variant, which includes introduced enlarged air inlets, a more aggressive front splitter, bigger rear diffuser, sharper side skirts and a significant rear wing. The roof gets air guides to help
bring in fresh air around the cabin, and there are also winglets over the rear glass to help guide air over the spoiler. Completing the exterior look are race-spec mirrors and 20-inch wheels wrapped in low-profile rubber. The concept is also 70 mm lower to the ground than a standard Coupe RS
