Vehicle Tax Hike in April : Drivers are being warned that their car tax could double from April 2025 for passengers with certain weights. Big one: from 1 April, Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) rates will double for high-emission models, potentially rising by as much as £2,745.As a result, any car producing more than 255g/km CO2 will incur a further charge of £2,745 from 1 April 2025 to use the road. This could see first-year VED bills soar to a staggering £5,490-a-year for some, adding to the already notable hit drivers will feel across the UK.
The expensive car supplement will also increase by £425 a year, up from £410.
