Honda Plans Electric Bike Factory in India : Now, the Japanese two-wheeler major is planning to set up an electric motorcycle plant in the country as a part of its drive in India towards electrification. The Motorcycle and Power Products Electrification Business Unit head, Daiki Mihara has confirmed the news.
The chief added the task has to be completed by 2028 for the company, as cited by the reports. According to Autocar India, Mihara said that “We will start with a commuter bike and much like most 100cc bikes, we will use a 4 kWh battery. You can also export them. We can manufacture electric bikes at about the same scale as we do midsize bikes there,” Mihara said.
He also mentioned that the future factory will be producing several models across distinct modules. In addition to that, the brand is also collaborating with major battery makers in preparing the specifications and the other features for upcoming electric models in the pipeline. Mihara also noted that the brand is also promoting secondary use of batteries to ensure carbon neutrality.
