Toyota Innova Crysta Electric Unveiled : Toyota has unveiled the Innova Crysta Electric Concept at the 2025 Indonesia International Motor Show. Now, it’s in the early trial period, and the electric MPV comes with 59.3 kWh of battery, 180 bhp output, and modern EV-specific styling. A production version has not yet been confirmed, but Toyota’s increased push towards electric mobility has kept an India launch in the realm of possibility.
The game-changing Toyota Innova Crysta Electric has been unveiled at the ongoing Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025. If this starts off as just a design study, it does reinforce Toyota’s growing interest in the world of electric MPVs, especially within territories where products like the Innova are already among the best-sellers.
The Kijang Innova BEV Concept shown here is based on the Innova Crysta, which is currently offered with a diesel engine in India. While there is no word this can go into production anytime soon, it’s clear Toyota is testing the waters for electric mobility in the MPV segment. Toyota Innova Crysta Electric: Key Changes Explained
Much of the original styling of the Innova Crysta has been retained in this electric version, but it wears some distinct EV-design cues. A sealed front grille, the latest BEV emblem from Toyota with blue inserts, and a revamped headlamp assembly visually distinguish it from the standard version. The concept also applies special body graphics to emphasize its electric DNA.
Interior design is essentially the same as the current gen Innova Crysta, but the center console has been updated, and the gear shifter has been replaced with switches. The rear cabin gets a premium treatment with captain chairs, wireless charging, and a two-screen entertainment package. Specifications power & battery
The battery will be a 59.3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. But the company still hasn’t announced the estimated range. Several smaller modules are placed throughout the floor while larger battery unit has been relocated to the engine bay. This design optimizes weight distribution and increases cabin space.
Here’s everything we know so far about the Innova BEV’s powertrain:
Power Output: 180 bhp (134 kW)
Torque: 700 Nm
Charge Compatibility: Type-2 AC and CCS-2 DC fast charging
Powertrain: Electric motor mounted on the rear axle
Toyota hasn’t said if this model is going into production, but its increasing focus on EVs suggests this could serve as a stepping stone to an eventual electric MPV for more mainstream markets.
Toyota To Introduce Electric Innova In India?
Currently, Toyota India retails the Innova HyCross, a strong hybrid MPV, in conjunction with the diesel-powered Innova Crysta. And with India increasingly concentrating on electric mobility, a battery-electric Innova can’t be ruled out completely in the long run.
The Innova BEV is still in the long-learning phase though, so Toyota has not yet made any decisions that will involve production. Should a production-ready version emerge down the road, it’ll probably follow further tweaks and feasibility studies.
